KAISERCRAFT - VIOLET CRUSH

For along time I'd wanted to have a go at a mannequin, not the usual crafters size mannequin that stands a few inches high but a full size one! These papers came along and seemed the ideal range to give a variety to the design. The finished item took centre stage on Jones Crafts trade stand at Stitches trade show in February.

I started off by making a paper pattern out of photocopier paper but that soon went out the window when I started to stitch the bodice together, each piece had to be cut to size as it was assembled.

Flowers were cut using the Sizzix flower 3D die

Each Kaisercraft range carries a pack of Collectables, these were used to add the strap detail

Gem buttons were added to the centre of the flowers to add a little bling

A hot glue gun was used to attach the skirt as this would have been too difficult to run through the machine.

The skirt was created by misting the paper with water allowing it to be moulded into shape before drying and then being added to the bodice. Butterflies from the Collectables were added for more detail.

I added a row of black lace and layered buttons to define the waistline.

Collectables add centre detail to the bust

A Collectable was again used to create the centrepiece of a button choker

A button backdrop was added to the choker

The whole dress is fastened at the back with a lace up detail
